Special Needs: Boots was diagnosed with Liver disease a few years ago but is well managed. He takes daily liver supplements. Boots also has anhidrosis, which is the inability to sweat. During our hot summers he is clipped to keep him cool. He is monitored throughout the day on these hot Florida days. Boots receives a special grain diet and soaked Timothy hay to manage his insulin.

Boots's Story
Meet Boots, who is a beloved companion to Tony and a true character at Kindred Hearts. With his spirited “racehorse mentality,” he never fails to keep us entertained, dashing around as if he’s always ready for the next big race. Despite his playful nature, Boots has a few medical conditions that require special care, and our dedicated team ensures he gets everything he needs to thrive.
A few years ago, Boots was diagnosed with liver disease, which is well managed with daily supplements. He also has anhidrosis, meaning he cannot sweat, making Florida’s hot summers especially challenging. To keep him comfortable, he is clipped regularly and closely monitored throughout the day. Additionally, Boots follows a carefully managed diet, including special grain and soaked Timothy hay, to maintain healthy insulin levels.
Through it all, Boots remains a happy, affectionate boy who adores our volunteers and visitors. His resilience, charm, and love for life make him a truly special member of the Kindred Hearts family.
