Health: Health issues being managed by veterinarian.
Special Needs: Freckles is a permanent resident at the sanctuary due to his medical issues. Freckles has Cushings and takes medication daily. He only has one eye and that eye he was diagnosed with Uveitis. He now takes daily medication to help manage it. Unfortunately, the disease has taken his vision but he gets along fine being blind. He also has DSLD. His care is managed by our amazing veterinarian’s and volunteers. He will continue to live at Kindred Hearts until his time.

Freckle's Story
Meet Freckles, who found his way to Kindred Hearts after suffering an injury to his check ligament and being diagnosed with uveitis. In his early years, he led an active life, excelling in jumping, dressage, mounted shooting, and parades. However, when his injuries made him unable to perform, his former owners chose not to support him through the long rehabilitation process. With limited options, they considered euthanasia—but thankfully, Freckles found a safe and loving home with us instead.
Now a permanent resident at the sanctuary, Freckles requires ongoing medical care. He has Cushing’s disease, which he manages with daily medication, and he also lives with DSLD, a progressive condition affecting his ligaments. In addition, Freckles has lost one of his eyes, and uveitis has taken the vision in his remaining eye, leaving him completely blind. Despite this, he navigates his world with remarkable resilience, adapting with the help of our dedicated veterinarians and volunteers who ensure his comfort and well-being.
At Kindred Hearts, Freckles is valued not for what he can do, but for the gentle and courageous spirit he embodies. He will continue to receive the care and love he deserves, living out his days in peace, surrounded by those who cherish him.
